The Middle East
1. Israel National Trail Thru-Hike
The Israel National Trail crosses the entire country of Israel and is one of the adventurous thru-hikes. The trail begins at Kibbutz Dan, near the Lebanese border in the northernmost region of the country. The trail then extends to Eilat at the southernmost tip of Israel on the Red Sea. The INT traverses a wide variety of ecosystems ranging from stunning desert craters, expansive beaches, to lush coniferous forests.
2. Jordan Trail
Travel through desert history, culture, and stunning landscapes on the Jordan Trail. The Jordan Trail is a rugged and historic route that crosses the entire country of Jordan. It runs along parts of ancient trading routes and intersects with the King’s Highway that stretched from Egypt to Aqaba. The Jordan Trail then goes north to Damascus, and is said to have been travelled by many ancient people. This includes such historic figures as Jesus, Moses, and Muhammad. The Jordan Trail stretches from the Fertile Crescent in the North to the edge of the Arabian Desert and the Red Sea in the South. The trail travels through many villages, allowing hikers to experience rich culture, natural beauty, and vivid history. The project is supported by numerous groups, including volunteers, Bedouin tribes, and local hiking enthusiasts.
3. Great Divide Trail
The Great Divide Trail traverses the Continental Divide between Alberta and British Columbia as its unsigned route wanders the wilderness of the Canadian Rockies for more than 1100 km (680 mi). As one of the most challenging and breathtaking long-distance trails in the world, the Great Divide Trail offers a wilderness experience through some of the most spectacular landscapes on the planet. It is an unforgettable adventure for any thru-hiker, backpacker, or day-hiker to take on.
4. International Appalachian Trail
The International Appalachian Trail (IAT) began in 1994 with the goal of creating a walking trail that followed the Appalachian Mountains from Mount Katahdin, Maine to Cap Gaspe, Quebec. Since then the IAT has grown to over 5000mi/8000km in length and include trails in 13 countries on three continents around the North Atlantic. 5. Torres del Paine Thru-Hike
Torres del Paine includes the “O” and “W” routes of Torres del Paine National Park in the heart of Chilean Patagonia. Known for its soaring mountains, bright blue icebergs cleaving from glaciers, and golden grasslands full of rare wildlife; this trail is a world-class outdoor experience.
