This guide covers a 92.1-mile connector of the Eastern Continental Trail in Southern Florida. As a result this fills the gap between the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail and the Florida National Scenic Trail.
A series of trails interconnected by road walks make up the Eastern Continental Trail. This hiking route spans the East Coast from Key West through Quebec, more than 4,800 miles. In Florida, there are four components of the Eastern Continental Trail:
1) A linear Florida State Park, the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail (FKOHT), between Key West and Key Largo.
2) The trail consists of a combination of road walks and trails. It continues on greenways between the end of the FKOHT and the start of the Florida National Scenic Trail at Big Cypress National Preserve.
3) The Florida National Scenic Trail to its Blackwater junction near Milton, Florida.
4) The Blackwater section of the Florida Trail to the Alabama state line.This guide covers the second component, filling in the gap between the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail and the Florida National Scenic Trail.
