How To Use Social Check-Ins
Select whether you are using an iOS or Android device
We’ve created 3 versions of this how-to guide with screenshots that match different devices and software.
Choose the tab that fits your phone and app version to follow the correct steps:
*PLEASE NOTE: You’ll need to update your iPhone to iOS 26, then download the latest version of FarOut to see the new liquid glass design.
The Social Tab
To access your followers, follow people, send Check-ins, and see your friends’ Check-ins, open the “Social Tab” in your app.
You do not need to buy a guide to use this feature.
Invite People to Follow You
These can be people you meet on your adventure or family and friends at home. Followers can view your Check-ins even if they don’t buy the guide.
Send a Check-In
Check-Ins are NOT SENT until you are in cell phone reception/WiFi range and CANNOT be used to contact Emergency Services.
Check-Ins on your Map
