About Our Partner

AdventureKEEN is an independent nature and outdoor activity publisher. It was founded more than 40 years ago, guided then and now by a love of being in the woods and on the water, by a passion for reading and books, and by the sense of wonder and discovery made possible by spending time recreating outdoors in beautiful places.
It is AdventureKEEN’s mission to share that wonder and fun with its readers, and most especially with those who haven’t yet experienced all the physical and mental health benefits that nature and outdoor activity can bring.
In addition, AdventureKEEN strives to teach about recreating responsibly, so that the natural resources and habitats we all cherish and rely on will be available for future generations. AdventureKEEN’s imprints include Wilderness Press, Menasha Ridge Press, Adventure Publications, Clerisy Press, and the Unofficial Guides.

About the Author

Canoeist Suzanne Welander paddles the full spectrum of Georgia’s rivers: swamps, whitewater, and everything in between. Outside of Georgia, her journeys have included multiday, self-supported trips in Alaska, Arizona, Montana, and Canada, as well as more than 100 laps on Tennessee’s Ocoee River. She also enjoys cooking (and eating) and works for an organic farm. Suzanne shares a house in Atlanta with her husband and son, a flock of chickens, and an ever-growing fleet of canoes.
