How to Make Thai Peanut Ramen Noodles While on Trail

Ramen noodles is a classic among long-distance hikers because it is affordable and easy to make. But eating packaged ramen can get boring. This simple Thai peanut ramen recipe is a great way to spice up your ramen.

Peanut Ramen Sauce

1. Prepare Peanut Sauce

Add the peanut butter, soy sauce, oil and honey to taste. Mix the sauce until it is smooth. It is okay to experiment with the ingredients to perfect the taste.

2. Cook the Noodles

Cook the ramen noodles according to the directions on the package. Do not add the seasoning package to the ramen. Drain off the remaining water.

3. Mix in the Peanut Sauce

After draining the water from cooking the noodles mix in the peanut sauce. You want to add the peanut sauce before the ramen cools so that the sauce more evenly coats the noodles. Top with crushed peanuts and enjoy.

  • 1 package of Ramen noodles (without seasoning)

  • 1 ounce of creamy peanut butter

  • 1 package of soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons of oil

  •  add desired amount of honey (1-3 teaspoons)

  • 1 package of chili sauce or crushed chili pepper (optional)

  • crushed peanuts (0.5 to 1 ounce)
