How to Make Thai Peanut Ramen Noodles While on Trail

Ramen is a classic among thru-hikers and backpackers because it’s affordable, easy to make, and lightweight. After so many times of eating it plain, you can definitely start to get tired of it. This simple Thai peanut ramen recipe is a great way to spice up your ramen on trail!

Thai Peanut Ramen Noodles Recipe

  • 1 package of Ramen noodles (without seasoning)
  • 1 ounce of creamy peanut butter
  • 1 package of soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of oil
  • add desired amount of honey (1-3 teaspoons)
  • 1 package of chili sauce or crushed chili pepper (optional)
  • crushed peanuts (0.5 to 1 ounce)

1. Boil Water & Cook the Noodles

Cook the ramen noodles according to the directions on the package. Drain off the remaining water. Do not add the seasoning package (that it comes with) to the ramen.

2. Mix in the Sauce Ingredients

After draining the water from the noodles mix in the peanut butter, soy sauce, oil, and honey (optional). You want to add the sauces before the ramen cools so that the sauce evenly coats the noodles while they are still warm.

3. Add Your Toppings & Enjoy!

Top with crushed peanuts and/or red chili flakes and enjoy your Thai peanut ramen noodles!
